Adnams Whisky

Adnams is a long-established brewing company based in Southwold, Suffolk, whose roots in East Anglia remain central to its identity. In 2010 the company expanded into spirits with the opening of the Copper House Distillery, bringing distillation onto the same site as its brewery and creating what Adnams describes as a grain-to-glass operation in Southwold.

Since then, the Copper House Distillery has become an important part of the modern English spirits scene, producing a range of gins, vodkas and whiskies alongside limited releases and experimental bottlings. Adnams Single Malt Whisky is crafted from East Anglian malted barley, distilled in copper pot stills and matured in new French oak barrels for at least five years, delivering a style that combines honeyed sweetness, vanilla and orchard-fruit richness with a rounded, gently spiced finish.

What sets Adnams apart most clearly is how its distilling fits within the broader culture of the brewery and the company's long-standing focus on local sourcing and sustainability. The Copper House has been positioned by Adnams as one of the UK's more energy-efficient distilleries, designed to work alongside the brewery by recovering heat and integrating production in a way that reflects the company's wider environmental goals.
