Baron de Sigognac is a Bas-Armagnac house based at Château de Bordeneuve in Gascony, in the south-west of France. Owned by the Guasch family, whose roots in the region stretch back for centuries, it is closely associated with estate-grown grapes, traditional distillation and long ageing in its own cellars.
Unlike many domaines in the region, the estate is dedicated to Armagnac rather than table wine, with Ugni Blanc and Baco among the key grape varieties used for distillation. The spirit is made in a traditional Armagnac alembic, a short column still that produces a characterful eau-de-vie with the structure to develop over many years in oak.
The range spans classic expressions such as VS, VSOP, XO and older age-stated bottlings, alongside vintage Bas-Armagnacs that show the house's depth of mature stock. The style is typically generous and rounded, with notes of dried fruit, vanilla, spice, polished oak and a gently rustic Gascon warmth.
Baron de Sigognac offers a clear, accessible view of traditional Bas-Armagnac: family-owned, estate-rooted and quietly serious. It is particularly well suited to drinkers who enjoy brandies with maturity and texture, but prefer individuality and regional character over the smoother anonymity of larger spirits houses.
