Calvet Cognac
Available for A$1,336
Better known today as a wine house, Calvet also had a lengthy history in Cognac. Founded in 1818, the company later expanded beyond wine, and by the nineteenth century Calvet was active in the Cognac trade as well, with old bottlings and vintage releases still appearing at auction and specialist retailers.
Today, Calvet Cognac is best understood as part of the category's history rather than as a prominent contemporary producer. The youngest surviving bottles commonly found on the market date from the 1960s, with older vintage examples also appearing from time to time for collectors and enthusiasts.
