Zuidam is a family-owned Dutch distillery based in Baarle-Nassau, close to the Belgian border. Founded in 1975 by Fred van Zuidam and now run by the second generation, it has become one of the Netherlands' most respected craft distillers, producing genever, whisky, rum, liqueurs and gin under one roof.
Its gin is best known through the Dutch Courage range, which reflects the Netherlands' deep historical connection with juniper spirits. Zuidam Dutch Courage Dry Gin is made with botanicals including juniper, coriander, angelica, citrus peel, liquorice, cardamom, iris root and vanilla, with each botanical distilled separately before blending to create a layered and precise spirit.
The style is aromatic, rounded and classically structured, with juniper, citrus, spice, soft sweetness and a subtle creamy note from the vanilla. Alongside the dry gin, Zuidam also produces Old Tom and aged gin expressions, giving the range a broader view of gin styles from crisp and cocktail-friendly to richer and more textured.
Zuidam brings a distinctly Dutch perspective to modern gin. It is polished enough for classic serves, but its connection to genever, traditional distillation and family-run production gives it more depth than many contemporary craft gins built mainly around novelty botanicals.
